Congenital Cardiac Surgery

Overview:
Congenital heart defects are structural abnormalities present at birth. These defects can range from mild conditions to life-threatening issues and often require specialized surgeries to restore heart function.

Common Conditions Treated:

  • Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)
  • Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)
  • Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)
  • Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)

Treatment Approach:

  • Open-Heart Surgery: Used for complex defects, where the surgeon opens the chest and corrects structural abnormalities.
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery: In some cases, small incisions are made, and catheter-based techniques are used to repair the defect.

Post-Operative Care:
Infants and children require close monitoring, medication, and regular check-ups to prevent complications.
